About the maker

I play what I build, and that is the whole argument for these mouthpieces. The playing came first, the building came out of it, and every piece that leaves the bench has been played before it goes.

I started on tenor and I have never really got off it. Most of what I know about mouthpieces I learned the slow way, playing four sets a night on gear that nearly worked and wondering what exactly was wrong with it.

The metalwork came later. I wanted a piece that did a specific thing and nobody was making it, so I started making it myself, and then people at gigs started asking me to do theirs. That is the whole origin story. There was no plan.

What I bring to a mouthpiece is not really craft for its own sake. It is that I know what it feels like when a rail is a fraction out, because I have played on one. I build the thing, then I take it to a gig and find out whether I was right.

Credits

Sessions, soundtracks, bands.

Real titles, dates and names go here. This is the part that makes the rest of the site credible, so it is worth getting right rather than getting up fast.

Gigs and bands

Nothing here yet. This list is waiting on Dad, and Claude has deliberately left it empty rather than inventing band names.

Soundtrack and session work

Also waiting on Dad. Film and session credits are checkable facts, so making them up was not an option.

Coming up

Listen to live performances rather than take my word for it.
